Level #1
Synopsis
After the intro cut scene has played the players find themselves inside of a rundown prison and must find a way out. The prison acts as a sort of tutorial keeping the two players on a linear path and attempts to teach the players everything that they will need to know for the rest of the game. Once the players exit the prison the world opens up and the real game begins.
Physical Descriptions
The majority of the game will be pretty dark and the prison section is no different consisting of tight corridors and an creepy atmosphere. As for objects and enemies the goal is to make it as simple as possible, so that we don't confuse or frustrate the player especially in the early stage were they are just trying to learn the controls.
Level Walkthrough
The players will start out in the prison cell which in the cut scene prior they had just managed to attain the key to escape. From there they exit the room and walk down the hallway were they are then confronted with the first puzzle, which is designed to illustrate team work. There is a door open which has a guard standing right on the other side and if the players were to walk in front f it they would be easily caught. If the players just try to shut the door and walk on the door will be quickly reopened and they will be caught. In order to get past two players must go to either side of the door and one must hold it closed while the other pushes an object in front of it also teaching how to interact with objects, and the fact that you can block enemy paths.
Once the players have the door blocked off the players continue down the hall until they almost run into an enemy. Who is positioned so that he is impossible to avoid, if you go forward you will definitely get caught. However he is positioned off to the side a little bit so that as you approach you are not quite in his field of view. This is done so that the red screen effect that occurs when enemies are near is apparent. The players are then forced to turn back.
When the players players turn back they see a path that was not fully visible from the other side. This path requires the players to crouch to get through. It is basically a small tunnel that leads out to a bigger room were there is a waste high barricade and enemies on the other side of that barricade. Sense the players by default are already crouching as long as they continue forward they should remain safe behind the barricade. This section teaches them to take alternate routes to avoid enemies and that enemies can't see you when your crouched behind an object.
