Gameplay and Mechanics


Gameplay

- Game Progression:

- Level based 8th circle of hell and its 10 sub-circles.

- Each based on one of the 10 sub-circles of hell

- Mission Challenge Structure

- Since this is a stealth-puzzle game the players must work together in each level by interacting with various objects and avoiding contact with enemy npc's.

- Puzzle Structure

- Each level will have various enemies that the player needs to avoid. In order to do this they may attempt to bypass them using the environment, or use tools they find to act as distractions.

- Entering in comabt with these enemy npc's will result in a restart at the beginning of the level unless the other player can come to your rescue.

- Objectives

- Solve each level/puzzle in order to obtain fragments of your memory.

- These fragments will piece together and restore your memory and add to your future

- Play Flow

- The player will start at a different circle of hell for each level completed.

- In each they will find enemies, puzzles, and tools to use in order to progress to the next circle

- This will culminate with the players encountering Lucifer

- Start ? environment puzzle/enemy encounters ? level completion.

- Overall Game Flow

- Title Screen will be displayed until the player selects to start the game

- Menu will give the options to: start, options (tweak gameplay), exit

Mechanics

- Physics

- Physics will remain true to those in the real world

- Some minor things may be changed due to the environment(s) that the player will be in

- Movement

- Will also remain true to real world movement

- The game will feature a 3rd person viewpoint so any movement the character makes will be seen by the player

- General Movement

- The player will use the left thumbstick to control the movement of their character.

- Other Movement

- The right thumbstick will be reserved for camera controls (those typical of a 3rd person game)

Objects

- Picking up objects

- A single button will be reserved for all player actions, including picking up objects

- Since the player is unable to attack any enemies, objects will remain one of the few things the player can use from the environment

- Moving Objects

- Moving objects will be done with the same button as picking up objects.

- There will be a distinction as to which objects are for moving and which of for the player to hold and use.
