Title: Acid Drop
Genre: Platformer
Number of Players: 1-2 players
Platform: PC
Target Audience: Ten and up
Target ESRB Rating: E for Everyone
The environment will be a maze-like, layered structure that will start at the bottom and lead the player up and through many traps and difficult jumps. There will be no pitfalls to begin with, but when the player hits a trap, they explode and acid destroys the first layer of the ground beneath the player at the time of the death.
The characters are super-deformed style bubble-like creatures filled with toxic acid that will melt any surface (in this instance, the ground).
The basic story premise is that both of the characters are in the process of escaping from a test facility. They were experiments gone wrong and must make it through the mazy labs and past the final boss. Only one may make it past it all and escape however, as the player "doesn't have to outrun the final boss, they just have to outrun the other player".
The basic rules state that the first player to either fall off the map or get popped and consumed by the boss loses. The winner is the player who survives for longer than the other player. The players may run, jump, and wall jump to reach the end of the game. The only way to win the game is to not lose. If one player reaches the boss before the other player, they must outrun the boss until the other player either reaches the boss (and dies) or falls off the map.
Acid Drop is losely based on and inspired by the game Super Meat Boy. The two share the platformer approach and both games become harder when you die to traps (SMB by the environment becoming slippery, AD by the ground lowering and therefore making jumps harder to make). Acid Drop is different in that it uses acid as its penalty for dying instead of slippery blood, is set in a 3D environment, and has a two-player mode with a boss.
