Male, Assault
Jake is a gamer. He plays mostly FPS games. He is also a weapon maniac and a gun ho guy. So when the world ends, how does he convert his on screen experiences to live actions? What part does he play in the trios survival.
Female, Sniper/CQB
Kate's father is in the military, and that about sums it up for why she is a markswoman and has won many shooting championships in her age class. Well, hate to spoil it but she is not very brave.
Male, Support/Superpower
Tyson's family owns a pharmacy, he ocassionally works there. He is good with medicines. He is a calm person who more often than not slips off into deep intellectual thought.
Oh, nothing big. Just the usual. End of the world by alien invasion.
Its Tyson's birthday today, NASA predicted some meteor showers tonight, besties are coming over to party, seems as though nothing can go wrong. But when the aliens invade things go haywire.
On the earth, in a suburban setting.

Strategy arises from the fact that there are 3 team mates with different abilities which are limited.
Suppress the enemy and snipe them.
Lift the enemy and shoot him.
Strategic choices include play time choices based on the environment like frontal assault or flanking the enemy.
There are a lot of games out there that are similar to this. Ex: Gears of war, Star Wars: Knights of the old republic, etc..
The speciality of this game is that this is a networked cooperative team game. The 3 characters are playable and have different abilities and objectives in the game. Even the cut scenes are different. The cooperative element is not a multiplayer additive but is a part of the whole game experience.
The game has AI for the playable characters, in case you are a loner and have no friends to play the game with.
