Pitch Requirements

Camera

The camera will primarily be First-Person, although there may be some small instances where the camera may switch to Third-Person. The only thing in your viewpoint will be your weapon and a heads up display which will contain health, ammo, and possibly a mini map.

More About the Character

Jack Daniels is an average 38 year old. Jack has lived his entire life in the Toronto area and knows it fairly well. He owns (well use to) a small grocery store called "The Mini Mart". It is one of his prized possessions and will play a key role in the story as you get closer to the city. All he has ever cared about is his family and he will do anything to find them.

Environement

The setting for majority of the game will be in the rual surrounding areas of Toronto CA. It will be comprised mostly of homes and open areas to explore. There will also be some wooded areas for you to navigate through as well You will be allowed to progress at your own pace giving you the freedom to explore and gather resources.

Core Game Mechanic

This game will be similar to many other First-Person games in that you will only be able to see it as if you were the character yourself (obviously). But this is key to how the game will function. The First-Person view will create a challenge of sorts for all the obstacles you may incurre such as climbing, fighting, and trying to be stealthy. The controlls will also be similar to that of many other First-Person games. The open world is your playground, and you must use everything in it to help you survive. Almost any object can be used as a weapon, but how affective it is will greatly vary. The only monetary system will be for you to trade with people you come along with.

AI

There will not be overly complicated AI (hopefully). The characters you incounter throughout the game will usually only talk to you from where they are when you find them, and enemies you bump into will run towards you until they are close to use their mele weapon or if they have a rang weapon, shoot from a distance. Rage animals will also run towards you and attack when close. It is mostly a matter of collision detection, and hopefully the AI will not be too complicated.

Physics

The physics in the game will be as close to a realistic physics model as possible. The characters when jumping should do so in a way that at least looks semi normal. When scaling objects in the world and you fall, it should fall at a normal speed and not too slow or too fast. Essentially everything will be modeled after real life and will hopefully come out as close as possible to that.

Audio

Audio in this game will be very subtle. The games music soundtrack will be a bit eerie to set the mood because you never know what could be around the corner waiting for you. It would sound something like from a Silent Hill game or even a Resident Evil game. The pace of the music will pick up however, when you enter in a fight. Music will cease all together when you are about to enter somewhere where something will happen such as a scary animal attack out of no where. It sort of lets you know when something is about to happen. Music will also be peaceful when in a safe house or somewhere where you don't have to fear attack. The sounds of the action events in the game will hopefully sound as realistic as possible. Our team will record the sounds we can and synthesize or find the ones we can't.

Networking

Having a network functionality will be a great way for people to get through the world with their friends, and to even meet new people. You can choose to do co-op with a friend or stranger where you have help getting through the main story of the game and even get to some secret areas that normally could not be reached (or at least not easily) with only one player. There will also be some other game modes. One of these would be a free mode where you are free to roam the world with up to 16 players and do whatever it is you please. There will also be a hide and seek mode where 16 players are divided into two teams. One team will hide by choosing a location and staying there. Once you have chosen your spot you cannot move until a player from another team is nearby. Once you have left your hiding spot, you cannot hide in another place. You may sneak around enemy players as best you can in order to reach the base in order to be safe. But if you get shot or a player presses the tag button while within range of you, you are out. If everyone on your team is out then your team loses. However, if at least half the team makes it to the base, your team wins.
