Gods War

Game Overview

GodsWar is a 1-3 player fighter/strategy game that takes place in Ancient Greece. In the game, players must choose between Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon to fight for control of the mortal world.

Game Concept

GodsWar is similar to most fighter games, two players face each other in a head to head battle, GodsWar adds to the fighter genre by giving it an overall strategy. Beyond the scope of normal fighter games, GodsWar requires players to attack and defend Greece’s city-states for control of the local mortals and the god they worship. Owning certain city-states allows the player to fight with additional gods as well as grants access to other perks to help them during battles.

Target Audience

GodsWar is for people who enjoy classic fighter games, like Street Fighter, and people who enjoy strategy games, like Risk. The target MSRP is Teen 14+.

Game Flow

The game has two gameplay modes/views. The map view, which shows the player’s control of Ancient Greece, is an overhead look of a map of Greece. Players are able to move only to neighboring city-states and fight for the city’s control. Upon engaging a fight, the map view vanishes and is replaced with the game view. The game view is a side view and acts as a side scroller. The players’ movements are limited to left, right, up, and down and the camera frames the two players through zoom control.

Look and Feel

The feel of the game will be fantasy like with super strong characters, special effects (lightning, poisonous gas, etc.), and physics for enhanced gameplay. The visual style of the game will hint at realism.

Number of Locations

GodsWar is set in Ancient Greece and it will be reflected in the game’s levels. The Map view will also be set in ancient Greece.

Number of levels

There will be 10-12 levels, time permitting, each set in a separate city-state.

Number of NPC’s

Given that there will be 10-12 levels each with their own god, there will need to be 10-12 NPCs that would come into play if there are less than 3 players.

Number of weapons

Each god will have at least 1 unique weapon.
